Jason Salavon

Jason Salavon was born in 1970 in Indiana. He was raised in Texas but based in Chicago. He received his MFA in The School of Art Institution of Chicago and BA in the University of Texas. He was an assistant professor for the Department of Visual Arts and a Research Fellow for the Computation Institute at the University of Chicago. He hosted galleries in the United States and Europe. The way he creates his artwork is through a process of his own design. He created a software which generates and reconfigures the materials to display a new perspective on something that everyone is familiar with.

I’m going to go ahead and say I’m not a fan. I can probably appreciate it more if I see the work with my own eyes and see for myself the process it took to make it, but as for what I can find through the access of the internet, the artwork looks like a painting that has been in a humid environment for too long and just melted away. I kinda liked some of his pixelated artwork but it’s still not doing it for me. Alot of his work is suggestive, even though it’s not showing anything which is also a big no-no on my part. I can appreciate nudity and the beauty of a naked body but playboy and porno-scenes are just …no. lol So my opinion on Jason Salavon is that he is an artist, just not one I would support.
